Taking the kids to Disney? Or just looking for a memorable holiday in the sun? Our superb luxury villa is just twenty minutes from Tampa International Airport and an hour or so from Mickey and his pals – in St. Petersburg, Florida’s best-kept secret.
St. Petersburg is a thriving, idyllic city, located halfway down Florida’s Gulf Coast. Unlike some of the better-known tourist destinations, St. Pete has character to spare, with art galleries and restaurants that put many of the other resorts to shame.
The House
Our modern, detached villa was built in 2003 in the heart of St. Pete’s residential district, just a five-minute drive from the famous waterfront and old town. Reflecting the area’s Spanish architectural heritage, many families have already found the property an ideal holiday home.
- Four Bedrooms
- With two double bedrooms, one twin and a fourth bedroom that sleeps three children in comfort, the house can accommodate two families with ease.
- Further temporary bedding provides for two further guests.
- Two of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms: the massive master bedroom has a huge Jacuzzi bath and large shower.
- The children’s bedroom boasts a double bed with bunk, sleeping three in comfort.
Lazy Days (And Nights) By The Pool
The property has a private heated swimming pool, and large garden. An elevated decking area and large patio provide ample space for sunbathing, while at night a gas barbecue transforms this area into a perfect setting for al fresco dining and entertainment.
The centerpiece of the interior is the splendid family room, complete with open fireplace. This large open-plan area adjoins the comfortable main dining area and breakfast bar.
With television, DVD player, hi-fi system and PlayStation at hand (there are a few games but you’re welcome to bring your own), the children won’t be short of entertainment when they eventually leave the pool.
The Neighbourhood
The house is situated on a quiet suburban street. Downtown St. Petersburg is a five-minute drive away, and most of the best beaches can be reached within twenty minutes.
It’s a five-minute drive to Coffee Pot Park, from where it’s possible to amble along cobbled streets directly into the centre of the city, keeping an eye open for manatees in the adjacent bay, Coffee Pot Bayou, on the way. Alternatively, let the kids have the run of the children’s playground while you admire the view.
The nearest supermarket is at the end of the road; a convenient three minute walk (or one minute drive, more likely). Opposite this is The Casual Clam, the perfect, friendly venue for seafood, a beer or both.
With the main Interstate into Tampa close by (though not so you’d notice), the house is the perfect centre for your Florida vacation.

Beaches
If it’s a beach holiday you’re after, St. Pete is perfect. The city is within ten minutes of miles of glorious sandy beaches, including Fort De Soto – voted the best beach in the United States in 2005 - and has escaped the over-development that has spoiled the state’s east coast. And because it’s on the Gulf Coast, the sea’s warmer, too.
For the Family
For children, St. Petersburg is arguably the perfect location. With Orlando and Kissimmee an hour and a quarter away, it’s possible to ‘do Disney’ without having to stay there. And nearby Tampa boasts Busch Gardens – as much, if not more fun than Disney, and with smaller queues.
Tampa also offers fantastic shopping at the International Plaza, lively nightlife and many wonderful restaurants.
Sports
For sports fans, the area is ideal. Surrounded by superb golf courses, the city also has marvellous municipal facilities for tennis. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays play Major League Baseball in St. Pete, and if you visit during the NFL season the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are quarter of an hour away. During March and April, Indy Car racing comes to town in the form of the Honda St. Petersburg Grand Prix.
St. Petersburg is famous for its sailing, and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, located on the city’s beautiful waterfront, is also one of Tampa Bay’s most prestigious social venues.
Culture
If you’re interested in culture and the arts, you might be surprised at what the area has to offer. St Petersburg’s Salvador Dali Museum is captivating, while the Museum of Fine Arts houses over 4000 works from the likes of Renoir, Cezanne, Rodin and O’Keeffe.
